The History of S.A.L.T.

S.A.L.T. had its beginnings in the ministry of Rev. Eva Nichol at Fort Smith, N.W.T. In 1980, Heather Martin, a graduate of Central Pentecostal College, joined Eva in Fort Smith, and work began in preparing materials to be taught in Bible courses.

For three years S.A.L.T. was operated as an extension program of the Fort Smith Pentecostal Church. In 1983, S.A.L.T. officially became a program supported by the Pentecostal Sub-Arctic Mission.

Throughout the years the evening program continued. In June of 1985 the decision was made by the Board of Directors to establish a full-time theological education center in Fort Smith. As a result, S.A.L.T. has become the first full-time theological college of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada in the Northwest Territories. The first full semester began on January 13, 1986.

In 1993/94 a new administration building housing classrooms, library, offices and chapel was constructed debt free. Praise the Lord for His goodness!
